Many of us know the notable structures in the skyline that we awe upon, yet few are familiar with the faces behind the masterpieces. The art of architecture has long been a symbol of political, social, cultural, and artistic expression. Some of the most notable architects have risen in this generation.

Richard Meier Meier's structures can be seen (and recognized) around the world. One of his most famous works is his Getty Center, displays his rationalist sensibility with the use of the color white. 
Frank GehryWith its undulating titanium fish scale walls, the Guggenheim Bilbao is Frank Gehry’s most famed pieces of art. Along with the Guggenheim Bilbao, Gehry has produced countless other infamous structures that are seen as badges of distinction. 
Tadao AndoDespite never having any formal training, Tadao Ando has overcome many obstacles in life and yet succeeded to become one of the most famous architects in his generation. The Japanese born artist is known for his creative use of natural light and for architectures that follow the natural forms of the landscape (not disturbing mother nature.) 
Santiago CalatravaCalatrava is a Valencian achitecht, whom established himself in the art world by designing the Tenerife Opera House in the Canary Islands. 
Herzog & de Meuron The faces behind the Tate Modern are Herzog & de Meuron, two Swiss architects with their own firm in Basel, Switzerland. Their buildings has  progressed over the years from purist simplicity to more complex and dynamic geometries which can be admired all over the globe.
