I decided to do some Spring cleaning today in my closet, and it felt oddly cathartic. I enjoy cleaning out my closet every season, not only for the enjoyment of being organized, but also because the random pieces I find buried within the depths of my closet brings nostalgia. Every piece of clothing I own comes with a story, and reminiscing with each one individually is always something fun to do. After two hours of chaos, my closet was finally looking like a quaint boutique in Soho; color coordinated and season coordinated, with room to grow! There is a certain method to my madness whilst cleaning out my closet. I like to fashion the cleaning in an organized order to make the experience effortlessly efficient. Below are the steps I use to clean out my closet.
How To Clean Out Your Closet1. Take Everything Out Of Your Closet2. Make 3 piles: Keep, Dump, Donate3. Organize your keep pile by grouping like items, color coordinate, and organize according to season (Spring/Summer clothing versus Fall/Winter) 4. Dump the clothes you know you will never wear, and no one else will either (stained, ripped, stretched, worn)5. Box up the donation items and drop off at your favorite charity (Goodwill, Chrysalis, Union Rescue Mission)6. Lastly, smile, because now you have room to buy more clothes!
