Dali Musuem

March 1, 2011 blogger
The largest collection of Salvador Dalí’s artwork outside of his native Spain was unveiled in January at the new Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Fla. The $36 million museum is an imposing concrete structure marked by an amorphous entryway of glass and steel inspired by surrealist sensibilities. However, more than just an aesthetic choice, the building’s fortress-like construction ensures that it will withstand the punishing winds of Florida’s hurricane season, a necessary precaution when safeguarding a collection of more than 2,000 pieces of art within the museum’s 20,000 square feet of display space.
