Trend Spot: Tail Hems
Cutaway hems, dipping hems, tapered hems, tail hems, etc. The asymmetrical, shorter-in-the-front-longer-in-back cut has a whole slew of names but no matter what you want to call it, you better get used to it being around because it’s having a serious moment in the fashion spotlight this season. For the past few seasons, designers have been showing us one of two extremes when it comes to tops and dresses. It’s been either midriff bearing crop tops or long ankle-grazing dresses. With that said, it only makes sense that the fashion world has come to a compromise. The tail hem is the happy medium between mini and maxi and it’s the perfect middle of the road solution to the two extremes we’ve become used to. This fresh cut is my new favorite thing about spring. If you're into this trend, try finding pieces from Etro, Lanvin, Dennis Basso, or Helmut Lang - all of which featured the cuts in their spring collections.
