The conundrum of the summer shoe in New York… It’s so hot (and I know, it’s hard to remember now, but the spring breezes are blowing in, and before we know it, sweltering, sticky summer will arrive.) So what to do about the shoes (which are in stores now, and if you wait until actual summer, pickings will be slim.)

 

It’s not the beach – flat sandals just aren’t appropriate, and really, do you want to walk the city in essentially bare feet? Right. Here are my picks:

 

Chanel’s espadrille – casual, summery, and full coverage.

 

Fendi’s platform – it’s still a sandal, yes, but something about the platform has me thinking my feet will be a few inches above the city streets, and therefore cleaner.

 

Celine’s loafer – was there ever a more perfect loafer?

 

Dries Van Noten dressy sandal – I know, a sandal again. At this point you could propose to me with these and I’d say yes, and then I’d wear them on our celebratory getaway out of the city.
