Some people spend their lives trying to awaken their passion. Some people are fortunate enough to find it early on in life, and are able to pursue their passion with fervor and zeal. Nothing gets in the way of their calling, and from then on, it is them against the world.I am lucky enough to have found my passions early on in life. Yes, plural: passion(s). I do have more than one thing I am immensely ardent about.  My mother loves to tell the story of how I discovered my two passions at dinner parties. In her slight southern drawl, she describes two main events in my life, “Caitlyn never let me pick out her outfits. At age three, she would lay out her outfit for the following day. She would handpick each and every item of clothing that she wanted to wear. She would lay her picks out on the bed, meticulously matching colors, textures, and patterns. She had a knack for styling, and expressed her love for fashion through her outfits. Even if she was only playing in the yard that day, she made sure her outfit was down to a T.”So, by the age of three I knew I loved fashion. I couldn’t get enough of it. I wanted the lace on my socks to match the lace on my dress’ collar, and that was that. My mother then goes on to recount how I realized my second passion. I was in the third grade, and my homework assignment was to write a short fiction story on a topic of our choice. My mother narrates,
“Caitlyn went home to immediately get started on her short story. She went up to her room, shut the door, and did not come out all night. She was absent from the dinner table that night, requesting cookies and milk to be sent to her room. The following morning, Caitlyn came out of her room with a huge smile on her face, gripping a legal-sized notebook in her hand. She let me know that she had finished her homework assignment, except, she wasn’t so sure she had followed the instructions properly. Her story wasn’t so short. It was 37 pages. That’s when I knew the kid loved to write.”I continued the pursuit of my passions from the moment they came to light. I discovered how to unite the two, by writing about fashion. I went on to write about fashion for numerous magazines and websites, letting my passions grow and ignite. Today, after 23 years of following my passions, I have found yet another way to merge the two, and work with the one person who always stood behind me: my mom. After 16 months of success with my blog, Caviar & Cashmere, I have decided to take on a new venture. In January 2011, my mother and I started our own company under the Caviar & Cashmere name. Caviar & Cashmere is now a 100% handmade cashmere product line, designed by my mother and I. The first Caviar & Cashmere Collection will be launched on our e-commerce site, where our products will be available for purchase. The e-commerce site will take over my blog’s domain, www.caviarandcashmere.com. It will be launched within the month, and I will let you know as soon as it does.I am still adamant about keeping a blog, not only because it is such a fun creative outlet, but because I have acquired such loyal and lovely readers that truly make my days more enjoyable by always posting supportive comments and sending heartfelt emails. When the Caviar & Cashmere e-commerce site launches, my blog will still be intact. I will still update daily, and as always, be covering the latest and greatest in luxury lifestyle. If you would like to bypass the e-commerce site, and go straight to reading the blog, you will be able to by following this link, www.caviarandcashmere.com/blog. Feel free to bookmark the new blog domain! I look forward to hearing from my readers everyday, and hopefully, will be able to share the most sumptuous, high quality cashmere products with you, too!
