I am all about quality over quantity. I would much rather have six pair of well-made, beautiful shoes that will last me for years, than twenty pair of cheaply made ones that I will only get a couple wears out of. I have been building up my shoe wardrobe over the past decade (ahh!), investing in staples that have definitely withstood the test of time. This year, I decided to add to my collection, a few shoes that I have been coveting for a hot minute. Here, are my six favorite styles I would personally put my hard-earned paycheck towards. After all, as Carrie Bradshaw once said, “I like having your money where you can see it. Hanging in my closet.”
The Slide On Mule
Versatility at it’s finest, the slide on mule. Not only is it comfortable, but can transition from day-to-night pretty easily. Gucci makes my absolute favorites, so much so that I invested in both black and white. I slip these on for just about any occasion – from running errands to a chic lunch or a casual dinner. They fit in everywhere.
The Cowboy Boot
I cannot believe I held onto my cowboy boots from the 1990s. I think I secretly knew that they’d come back into style, and that they certainly did! Perhaps this western trend will go in and out, but it certainly pays off to hold on to them because the actual design barely shifts, making the boots a great investment piece.
The Satin Pump
Satin is a tricky material, but when done correctly, can be so elegant and beautiful. I like satin pumps for dressier occasions, such as cocktail or black tie events. Many designers add embellishments which I actually love, because it adds an extra accessory. If the shoe is decorated enough, you may not even need to wear jewelry!
The Bright Bootie
Red, blue, green, the brighter the better when it comes to booties. I love styling a monochromatic outfit and then pairing it with a pop of color on the bottom.
The Not-So-Nude Heel
Nude heels can be boring, but you kind of need one pair in your arsenal. Instead of the typical ankle-strap nude stiletto, I prefer to choose a neutral heel with some added pizzaz like a bow or feathers.
The White Sneaker
Because is there really anything better than a crisp, white sneaker?
